This Saturday in Olympia there’s a street rally against public service cuts here and in Wisconsin, bless their cottage cheese hearts. This is most heartening. Vashon’s Roger Fulton is calling all cars. And, Moi? As usual I am firmly in armchair looking for what’s wrong in the big picture. Aha, our Community Council is too busy sweeping K2 fallout under the rug to join in. Formally, its current agenda only lists changing a County Unincorporated Area agreement, K2 being present only where noted. The buzz Councilwise is about something we are calling governance. Loosely put “governance” is pent up boredom with the monthly grind through minutes, motions, and standing committee reports. These often carefully prepared and sometimes heartfelt attempts to communicate with you and other Island citizens via the public forum seem to go into a vacuum (which sometimes feels hostile). Then they completely disappear; I don’t believe they are even reflected in minutes. This is particularly perplexing when the questions raised repeatedly concern governance, meeting format and...
